Couples Collaborative Assessment

This type of assessment is designed to help couples identify and address their difficulties, increase awareness of their strengths and weaknesses, improve communication, and positively enhance relationship functioning (Kenny, 2020). Such an assessment sometimes is completed prior to marriage, sometimes at the onset of couples’ therapy, sometimes during a time of some distress, and sometimes even when couples might be considering separation (Finn, 2015).

General Process

This evidence-based process will involve a series of interviews, questionnaires, standardized assessment instruments, and possibly even input from collateral sources with your permission (e.g., insights from therapists with whom you have worked). The assessment will culminate in a written report and joint feedback session, during which the findings will be integrated, key points will be summarized, and recommendations will be presented.
